What does it cost to join?

The base yearly cost for the Cub Scout and Scouts BSA programs is $165.00. Scout life is Scouting America’s magazine and available for an additional $15.00 per year.

Once you join, there may be additional costs with your Pack or Troop. Some charge dues to pay for advancements and other cost. Uniforms, Summer Camp and other special events may also have a cost to it.

After you join there will be many options for fundraising (Popcorn, Camp Cards, Unit organized fundraisers). Taking a little time to participate in these fundraising opportunities can easily pay for the needs of your Scout. Many take it a step further and use those fundraisers to fund scouting activities above and beyond

What are the payment options?

You can get started by paying the full $165.00 upfront. If you’d prefer to spread out the cost, we’ve partnered with Affirm, a third-party payment service that offers financing options. Affirm can extend a line of credit, making it easier to budget for your Scout’s registration.

How do I use Affirm to register my Scout?

1. Start Your Registration

  • Visit iascouts.org and begin the Scout registration process.
  • Click the “Join the Adventure Today!” Button
  • On the next page, scroll down to the “Sign up and see the payment plans Affirm has to offer for your family budget” button and click on it.
  • Complete all required fields (Scout information, pack/troop selection, personal details).
  • Click Add to Order.
  • If you have additional Scouts, edit the Scouts information at the top and click Add to Order for each one.
  • Make sure the price is correct.

2. Proceed to Payment

  • Affirm should be selected as your payment option. (If it’s not visible, make sure you’re using a current browser and the latest page load.)
  • Once you’ve reviewed your registration, click Place Order or a similar button at the end of the form.

3. Start the Affirm Application

  • Clicking Affirm will open a secure checkout window powered by Affirm.
  • You’ll be prompted to provide basic details: name, birthdate, last four of your Social Security number, and phone number.

4. Choose Your Payment Plan

  • Affirm will display available financing options. Typical plans might include:
    • 3 months at ~0% APR
    • 6 months (slightly higher APR)
    • 12 months (higher APR)
  • Select the plan that fits your budget.

5. Review and Accept Terms

  • Affirm will show:
    • The payment breakdown (monthly amount × number of payments)
    • APR, fees, and total cost
  • Read the terms thoroughly, then click Confirm or Accept to proceed.

6. Complete the Transaction

  • Once approved, Affirm will redirect back to the iascouts.org payment page.
  • Finalize your registration by submitting the transaction.
  • You’ll receive confirmation emails from both iascouts.org and Affirm with your payment schedule and agreement details.

Need-to-Know Details

  • Eligibility: Affirm approval depends on a soft credit check; no hard inquiry on your credit report. Qualifying is based on your financial profile.
  • Interest & Fees: Some plans may have interest. Always review the APR and total repayment before confirming.
  • Missed Payments: A late payment fee may apply if payments are missed.
  • Support:
